Ich hoffe ich werde willkommen sein

Beitragvon Milly » 07.05.2021 - 14:03:49

Ich bin kein Jugendlicher, also behandle mich sanft. :D

Hallo Milly,

In welchen britischen Wohnmobilforen bist Du denn?

MfG

I lost my co driver 19 months ago Hans, my husband, was German, he was my translator, planner and map reader (he never trusted the TomTom, he always had the map handy.)
As soon as we are able to, I have my next trip, a tour in Germany, almost planned and I will be very happy to share my travels with you.

I am trying to find my way around the forum, but have to confess its like trying to negotiate Berlin without a Navigator. There are so many subjects that are out of date and haven´t been added to for years.
I seem to be the only person on the forum most of the time :(

Do other people have the same problem as me ? I can´t even find how to start a new thread. Your forums are so different to the Uk forums, I have to say typical German, everything is so complicated

Someone asked about places to stay in the north of Germany (with dog) a few days ago and I can´t find that thread. I live 60 km. NE of Berlin have a dog (who is not allowed to pee against cars or motorhomes, just hedges, tall grass etc. because he is a country dog.)
I know of a few places where dogs are welcome, mostly large car parks near the Oder Dam or Stellplätze, but the coast I am not familiar with.

I think it would be nice to start something that everyone could add a bit to each day, that way we really get to know each other, some thing like a good morning or whats the weather like where you are. What plans do you have anything to get a conversation going.
Good Morning to anyone who is reading this.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Hi Milly,

at least you have already managed to start your first thread in this forum. :D

Forum activity here has been a bit low for some time, but has increased again recently. It may be a part of German mentality that there are not that many "just chat"-threads here. Many Germans tend to be more like: Ask (specific) question - Get answer - Say thank you (sometimes ...) - Turn silent again.

Then the German language has a proclivity towards using many words and long, nested sentences. Which also shows in some of our forum titles. For instance, if you want to ask a question about travelling in Northern Germany, go to the subforum:

Urlaubsziele (Fragen & Antworten, Tipps & Tricks zu Wohnmobiltouren) ‹ Fragen & Antworten, Tipps & Tricks zu Reisezielen weltweit (keine SP) ‹ Mittel-Europa ‹ Deutschland

Then click on "Neues Thema" (top left), and start writing.

BTW, if you have been active in Motorhome Facts, you might remember a user with nickname "Boff". That was me.

Personally, I can't help with any dog-related questions. But along the northern coast of Germany it is practically impossible to find any places to stay overnight with a motorhome, apart from camp sites and official "stellplatz" sites, with or without dog.

Mfg
Gerhard

Thanks for your reply Gerhard, I found you on facts, why did you give up the forum? You left a year after I joined, hope it wasn´t due to anything JanHank said :D
I would start a new thread about what I am doing with the motorhome and add pictures, when I know how to add pictures, if I thought anyone would be interested, but as I said before it´s rather a dead forum at the moment.
living here and not have a good command of the language my 2 English forums have been my lifeline, first when my husband died and now during the Pandemic, I am lucky living where I do, in a small village and have the understanding of the villagers because of the language barrier and I am also less likely to be affected or infected with the virus.
A few more posts from me and you´ll have my life story

My mention of dogs was because of what I read someone on the forum had said about dogs peeing on his WOMO wheels.

No, it had nothing to do with you.

We had been living in The Netherlands until 2013, from where we visited the UK by motorhome many times. (Just a short hop over the channel.) I also had a brother living in UK, one more place and reason to visit. Then we moved to Sweden, so due to the distance it became less likely to visit UK by MH any time soon. And then, in 2016: First there were some changes in my life and job, giving me less time for forums. I was very active in several forums, German, English, Dutch. And now I had to cut down. And then, I have to admit that it had an impact, came the Brexit referendum. And the mess that followed it. (I got it first-hand from my brother. Until he and his British wife finally had enough and left the UK for the Republic of Ireland.) So I decided to stop with Motorhome Facts.

But maybe I will return at some time, who knows?

Milly hat geschrieben:I would start a new thread about what I am doing with the motorhome and add pictures, when I know how to add pictures ...

Feel free to do that! There are some others posting travel reports etc., and this is appreciated. We have a sub-forum for travel reports (Reiseberichte), one for other activities about and around the MH (Aktivitäten rund ums WOMO), as well as several sub-forums for technical aspects of motorhoming.

To upload pictures, just select the "Dateianhang hochladen" tab below the text input box, select a file and click on "Datei hinzufügen". You can then place it either as thumbnail or full-size anywhere into your text. There is however a size limit, I think it is 800 kb per file.

Best Regards,
Gerhard

Moin Milly,
